Allowing someone to do something is a very weird concept to me. This is perhaps because I have never been in a position of any power, apart from having the power to make my mind up about things and do them accordingly. To have the power to allow someone to do something is strange. No one should have the power to allow anyone to do anything, we should all be allowed to do anything we want to do, unless that thing hurts someone else.
For something to become permissible means that someone has power over another person and I don’t agree with that. Whether it is in a relationship, at work or in a friendship group, no one should have power over anyone. We live in a democracy, of sorts, and so we should all function like we live in a democracy, yet we don’t.
Some of us live in waiting for permission that never comes, others just do whatever the fuck they want because they feel they have the power to make others feel shitty. I think, we should all have power over ourselves and should be allowed to do anything we want to do. I don’t think we should ever have to wait for permission to do something we want to do, living by rules is not something that we should do. Laws stop us from doing anything illegal, rules control everything else and who should be allowed to have that power?
